This second cinematic album features the exotic auditory styling of the Zerovian Throat Troubadours™ who rose to fame in their beloved home country, the tiny nation of Zerovia, sandwiched in the craggy mountains between Siberia and Mongolia. Famous for their mastery of overtone throat singing and their elaborate, carefully balanced harmonic layering of voices, an extraordinary vocal range is a distinctive characteristic of their singing style. It can seem that a single singer starts at the deepest depths of bass, through treble, on to alto, and concluding at the highest and sweetest soprano. It’s a trick, of course. The men handle the lower range and the women take over the higher range seamlessly, in a technique known as tonal legation. It’s remarkable that these five musicians alone play the vast array of instruments from tuba to fairy bells. A little-known fact–xyypax (literally, “leg pulling”) is the national sport of Zerovia.
